5 Weeks

Camden has gotten so fun this past week! I love seeing him be so much more awake and active. He is making great progress with holding his head up, occasionally will grasp the basketball rattle, will lock eyes with you for a while, and has given us so smiles! Toby and I love that he is becoming so much more interactive. When he smiles or locks eyes with us it melts my heart!
It has also been funny to watch how Copper is liking him more. At first, I felt like Copper didn't dislike Camden, but still wanted to be with Toby and me all the time, not Cam. Now, Copper likes to lay right beside Camden when he is on the floor and wants to give him lots of licks. I'm sure they will be the best of friends!

Here are some of our week's activities...enjoy!

One Month

Our little boy turned one month old on Friday, April 21st! I don't think this picture does justice to how much he has changed in the past month. I also think it is funny to try so hard (I took like 20 pictures) and still not get one where he is looking at the camera.
We got a great report from the doctor! Camden is healthy and growing like a weed. Below are some things that I want to remember about Camden at one month.
  • He is 24 inches long! That is 2 feet...so crazy to believe. This puts him in the 96th percentile.
  • Camden weighs 10 pounds and 11 ounces. This is the 62nd percentile, so he is gaining ground! We feel like we are starting to see some chubby cheeks on the horizon.
  • We have a hard time with clothes right now. He is too long for newborn and most 0-3 months pants and sleepers! However, most 0-3 month clothes are too wide for him. Most of the time his pants are too short or his tops to big. :)
  • Cam is a great eater! He eats 8 times a day one of which is a bottle that daddy gives him around 10:30 or 11:00 at night. He loves it! I don't know if it is the bottle or the late night guy time he likes better.
  • He is a super sleeper...which makes mama very happy! He naps after each day time feeding (after awake time) and goes down for the night after his 8:30 feeding. He then dream feeds at 10:30 or 11:00 and usually sleeps until 4:30-5:00. We start the day at 7:30 each morning. All in all, not too shabby!
  • Camden is becoming so much more alert! He loves to sit up (with our help of course) and practices standing. We know both of those are a long way off, but he likes those positions. He also loves tummy time and being outside. If he is crying and we take him outside, he is instantly happy!
  • Baby acne hit this past week so I joke that he looks like an awkward teenager right now. :)
  • Cam does a decent job on outings, but tends to get fussy if he wakes up and realizes he is in his car seat. At church the past three weeks he has made it through the singing, but gets restless during the sermon.

It is pretty amazing how drastically our lives have changed in just a month! We love our little boy so much and wouldn't change anything about him!

New Job :)

Well, it is official...I will have a new job next year. It pays a lot less, I will work much longer hours, and my duties will not be glamorous at all, but I am SO excited about it! You may have guessed, but I will be a full-time stay at home mom.

This has not been an easy decision for me as I LOVE my current job and cannot imagine not doing it. However as we looked at the busy schedules of a senior high coach and administrator, we realized how little time we would have with our sweet boy. We prayed a lot and feel that it is best for me to be home with him during these early years!

I went to my school on Thursday and told the staff during a staff meeting. It was really hard for me, but everyone was super supportive! I have been extremely blessed to move up quickly and to have been in such a great district. My most recent position has been the perfect fit! My philosophy is right in line with my boss, the staff is truly a family, and I love the kiddos. What a blessing to get to LOVE your job even on the crazy days. I'll go back for 3 1/2 weeks to finish my contract so I'm glad to get to say goodbye to the kids and staff.

I'm really considering this as a promotion, I am now principal of Schulte Early Childhood! :)

3 Weeks Old

Camden turns three weeks old today! We are having a great week on our own for the first time. :) I think Camden is glad that his mom is finally figuring out some things that make him a little happier! We've had many more firsts this week...first bottle, first time to church, first dinner out, first basketball game to name a few.

He is becoming so much more alert and awake during his wake time. We have a good number of activites that we do during play time. His max attention span is about 7-10 minutes with any one thing and most of the time much shorter. He is making a lot of progress on tummy time and actually seems to somewhat enjoy it!

Here are a few highlights from our week. We love this little boy!

Week 2 Rewind

Camden turned two weeks old yesterday! We celebrated by taking him in for his 2 week doctor's appointment...he hated it! He hates diaper changes, no clothes, heel pricks, and people touching him all over. All this to say the people at our doctor really got to experience his lungs in full force! We got a good report. he is certainly growing...especially his length!

2 Weeks
8 pounds 15 ounces
22 1/2 inches

She gave me the green light to let him sleep 5 hours at a time at night, which makes mom especially happy!

My mom has been here with us this week which has been a huge help. She has cooked, cleaned. washed, driven, talked, cuddled, changed, and babysat. She even kept Cam last night while Toby and I went on our "first" date. I felt like a kid in high school again! We got take out and enjoyed the nice weather at the park. Thanks for everything Mom/Nana!

We are getting into a pretty good schedule, which is really nice for me. He eats 8 times a day, has a short wake time after feedings during the day, and then naps. We also go for an hour walk every morning and a short daily outing. This prevents me from going stir crazy.

Here are some pictures from week 2...enjoy!

Camden Waking Up

0 Months

His monthly picture...Toby's mom gave us these super cute numbers to use for monthly pictures! We also decided to put him next to one of his stuffed dogs for a size comparison.
