Beckett Lincoln Schulte

As you can probably tell from all of my past blog posts, I am not a writer and don't pretend to be one. So, I will not spend a lot of time writing about our recent loss, but felt the need to share a bit as this has been a very big part of our family.

Words cannot express how tough the past month has been for our family. To go from happy and healthy pregnancy (20 weeks in) to losing your baby without any notice was unexpected to say the least. We had just confirmed (since I had known all along) that our second baby was a boy. Although we were only half way in, being the planner that I am, I had made lots of plans. From bedding to closet reorganization to future sibling relationships, our sweet boy's future was planned in my mind. However, on June 24th, we found out that God had a different plan for our baby. He had decided to call him home to Heaven. Through this whole process, we have felt a complete confidence that he is now perfect and happy in Our Father's house, but have been heartbroken that we are missing out on a life with him here. It is such a weird feeling to feel complete peace and sadness about the same situation. I have told many people that I am just sad through this all.

We have been so blessed to have such amazing family and friends to walk through this journey with us. They truly have been the hands and feet of Christ as they ministered to us. From flowers to meals to babysitting to errands to lawncare to encouragement gifts to dogsitting to monetary gifts to prayers (and I'm sure I am missing something), they have met as many tangible needs as they could. We are so thankful for the Lord surrounding us with such a supportive community!

Our family clings to the hope that the Lord has great things in store for us and cannot wait to see the blessings he has for us in His perfect plan and timing. Until then, we will rest in His peace, but miss our sweet son, Beckett, and long for the day we meet again.

I wanted to share something that Toby wrote while we are in the hospital waiting to deliver Beckett. It truly captures our journey.

Beckett Lincoln Schulte ~ Into Our Father's Arms 6.24.11

I wish I would have talked to you more
I wish I would have rubbed mama's belly more
I wish I could have seen you grow
I wish I could have seen you run into mama's arms

I hope you heard laughter
I hope you heard our praises to God
I hope you felt loved
I hope you feel Love

If only your little eyes could have seen this big world
If only our eyes could have seen your little life

I will never scoop you up after a scraped knee
I will never stop you from arguing with your brother
But you are where knees aren't scraped
and you two will make up for lost time in a place without time

I will never teach you how to throw a curve
I will never teach you to win and lose with honor
But you are in His house where winning and losing is not a game or a contest, but an already decided victory over wrong

Your mama will miss out on giggles, hand holding, and snuggles
She will not wipe your tears, nose, or face
But she will cherish every second she carried you
Around the block, up a mountain, chasing Camden, always with her

My heart is broken
My chest pains from crying
My head hurts dreaming of what could have been
My soul knows you are with family and friends past

So blessed to have you
So sad to part from you
So thrilled for the day we meet again

I hope you feel our love
I know you feel His Love

Camden and Garrett

Camden has had the pleasure of lots of cousin time this summer! He has especially had a lot of fun with his cousin, Garrett (3 1/2 yrs). I love these two videos of our cute boys playing together!

Summatime!

Here are some pics from summer fun!

Sweet boy loves playing in the pool!

Between summer leagues and basketball camps, Cam has gotten his fair share of time in the gym! This picture makes Mama laugh because it looks like Cam's body with Daddy's legs. :)

Too many Sonic trips to count!

Daddy and Camden hit the backyard pool to beat the heat.

Colorado Vacation

In early June, our family got the chance to travel to Colorado for a family wedding. We got to spend a lot of time with Toby's family while there and went up to Frisco and stayed for a few days after the wedding. We really enjoyed the beautiful weather and scenery! Toby has already spent quite a bit of time trying to convince me that we should move there. :)

Family picture on a hike (which we got lost on) ~ Mama pregnant with Beckett @ 17 weeks
Cam was quite the trooper in the backpack carrier!
Hiking with Grampa Aunt Marla, Uncle TJ, Grampa & Daddy biked Vail Pass (Daddy didn't let Mama & Beckett go!)
There was so much snow at one point they had to carry their bikes over! Crazy!

More snow!

Camden enjoyed morning coffee and breakfast with Grampa and Mimi every morning. They were so sweet and let Mama and Daddy sleep in!

One afternoon Mama, Daddy, Uncle TJ & Aunt Marla went on a hike. And what a hike it was! Mama was glad she did it, but it was quite the workout hauling Beckett up Mount Royal with an elevation gain of 1385 feet. In fact, I just looked up a description of the hike and it said, "This popular hike is not for those looking for an nice easy flat trail. The hike up Mt. Royal is straight up so get ready for a good workout with rewarding views at the top." So true~it was AMAZING once we made it. :)

Uncle TJ needed two walking sticks for the hike back...

Aunt Marla and Mama happy to be walking down instead of up!

We made it! On top of Mt. Royal!Camden got a few more sweets on this trip than he normally does. :) Ice cream with Mimi!

Little guy in a big chairFirst taste of chocolate pudding...he loved it!
And we certainly couldn't leave out the beautiful couple...congratulations Brandon & Jessi!

The best-looking usher!

Thanks Nana & Papa!

A couple of weeks ago Toby & I headed to San Antonio for a basketball conference/get-away and my parents came to keep Camden. It was the first time we have gone away together since we had Cam and he did great! Toby & I really enjoyed ourselves and sadly took zero pictures on our trip. Nana took several from their time together and you can see how well they kept Camden entertained!

Cam & Nana heading out for a trike ride!

Camden showing off one of his favorite tricks...a hand stand!

Going for a walk with Papa

Nana & Papa must have said something really funny!

Playing at the park with Nana

Outside Fun

We have been taking advantage of the semi-nice weather here before it turns crazy hot! Camden loves to be outside!

Camden LOVES the park! Helping to push some of his lifegroup buddies in the wagon. So sweet!

The sand table has turned into a sand box...he can climb into it himself!
Don't judge since his mouth is on the water hose, but he loves drinking water out of it!

Playing in the fountains

Camden takes driving very seriously....

Camden Goat

Toby had a nick name when he was a little boy...Toby Goat. He got this because of all the climbing he does and I think he passed the trait down to our little guy! Cam has recently discovered how to climb on the couch, recliner, and many other fun household objects. One of his favorites is the ledge on the outside of his crib!

There is a video too, but I've tried like 5 times and can't get it to upload! If I feel patient later, I will try again. :)

Outings with Daddy

I laugh at how different things are for Cam when he goes out with Daddy as opposed to Mama. With Daddy, he hardly ever rides in a cart and gets to play with lots of fun things...let's just face it, Mama is not brave enough for this! Daddy also has a special way of making random errands fun; check out the evidence below!

Cam loves watching lawnmowers and thought he was super cool to "drive" one!

Another haircut

Camden is obsessed with dogs! Toby thought he would like watching the dogs at the dog park and he was right!

Sadly, Camden didn't get a donut on this Saturday morning donut run. :(

Too bad he has no idea that these rides actually move! Haha!

Cam gets so excited when he sees pillow pets in the store! I never let him play with them, but it looks like Daddy does. :)

Mama's Day

Although Mother's Day was a pretty busy day between church and tutoring, we were able to squeeze in a yummy lunch at Posado's and I got spoiled with gifts from my two guys! Can't believe this time next year I will be a mom of two!
