We saw a pediatric ophthalmologist the following week who diagnosed Halle with strabismic amblyopia. The treatment for Halle will be glasses, patching and most likely surgery. We were very saddened by the news and its especially hard since she has already been through so much in her short 2.5 years. But I am extremely thankful that we got a quick diagnosis with a proven treatment plan and are starting the process while she is still so young.
So far she has exceeded our expectations greatly with how she has handled everything! She was the perfect patient at the ophthalmologist, even during eye dilation...no tears at all! Shopping for glasses was a little more difficult as she grew tired of it after a bit, but now she has the glasses and is keeping them on like a pro! We are having some problems with her trying to look at the tops of them not through them, but hopefully that will be resolved soon.
The treatment plan is glasses for 6 weeks, followed by patching. I'm dreading that part as I can't imagine she will handle that part easily, so please pray for us! They will evaluate if the glasses are helping and then determine if she needs to continue wearing them.
But for now, we think we have the cutest glasses girl around!
Playing with Daddy at the doctor's office.
Glasses shopping made us both want to cry! Then we found some cute ones that we were both happier about.
Silly girl showing off her new look!
Nana brought Mama's American Girl Molly (complete with glasses) for Halle! Our plan is that Molly will also do patching with her. Here's hoping that helps!

Love this sweet glasses girl!!!
