6 Months Old

Camden turned 6 months old on October 21st! I’m a little behind in posting due to the sickness that has hit our household. Camden got sick for the first time, then me, and now Toby. We are hoping it leaves us soon!
• Camden got a great report at the doctor, despite still having a runny nose and cough. Our doctor didn’t seem concerned about either and said he looks like a really healthy guy! He was 29 inches long (98th percentile) and 18 pounds 3 ounces (57th percentile). Hard to believe how much our boy has grown in 6 months!
• Right now Camden wears 6-9 months and a few 6-12 months clothes. Mama is especially excited to get him all decked out in his cute winter wear; however the weather here isn’t exactly cooperating! He wears size 3 diapers.
• Camden is still taking four liquid feedings a day. Most of the time he nurses, but he takes a bottle a few times a week. He is getting VERY distracted when he eats because he is so interested in everything; this makes the process a bit long! He also eats solids three times a day; oatmeal for breakfast, a new fruit or veggie we are introducing for lunch, and rice cereal and fruit or veggie for dinner. He does okay with solids, but still seems to definitely prefer his liquid feedings. He has tried sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, green beans, peas, apples, pears, bananas, avocadoes, pumpkin, peaches, and plums. His favorites seem to be his cereals, peaches, and peas. He REALLY does not like avocadoes or green beans.
• Camden is still doing great with sleeping, especially at night! He goes down about 8:00 or 8:15 and sleeps until 7:30 in the morning. Some mornings he wakes earlier, but plays quietly until we go in to get him. Some mornings, he sleeps later and we have to wake him up. He is such a happy boy in the mornings! During the day he takes three naps: about 1 ½ to 2 hours in the morning and afternoon and around 45 minutes to 1 hour in the early evening. We think we may need to drop the last nap soon. He sleeps on his tummy or side, but moves positions a lot in his sleep!
• Camden is such a little mover! He is constantly kicking or climbing, even when being held. He has mastered sitting on his own (getting himself to that position), scooting forwards and backwards (we think crawling is just around the corner), and has been pulling up in the crib (we had to lower the mattress). It is so fun to watch how adventurous he is, such a curious boy! I have a feeling I will spend lots of time chasing my sweet boy.
• Camden loves his toys, but sometimes I think he would be fine with only having the paper towel holder and paper. Isn’t it funny how much kids like non toy items, but we still buy toys. His favorite toys right now are the light up/noisy toys and any kind of ball that makes noise. I think he could be entertained for hours chasing after balls.
• Cam has really started talking a lot this month. It is so fun to hear his commentary! Giggles and full out laughs are also common sounds! We love hearing all the sounds he shares with us.
• One sad thing: Camden got sick for the first time the day before his 6 month birthday. He had a fever, was pretty snotty, and threw up a few times. Poor little guy, you could certainly tell he didn’t feel well! We headed to the doctor and picked up some meds to help, but the snotty stuff has hung around for almost two weeks now. We are so glad he is feeling better!

I didn’t know it was possible to love a baby so much! We couldn’t ask for a more perfect baby for us! We love you, Camden Lloyd!

P.S. I have a feeling it is going to get harder and harder to get a decent pic with the puppy dog. Cam looks at me like, how am I supposed to sit here without playing with this dog?! I’ve also included some of the outtakes!

  1. WOW - 29 inches! He passed up 9 mo old Kate (who has always been 90th %!) He's going to grow out of his car seat soon! Is yours a 30 inch max?

  2. I know....it is crazy!!! I have heard that the boy charts are different than girls. Our seat actually goes up to 33 inches so we should be good for a while. Have you guys switched yet?

  3. No, but we will soon... Kate's just not as content in the infant carrier as she used to be.
