5 Months Old!

Camden turned 5 months old on Tuesday! I can’t believe how quickly the past month went by. Here’s the scoop on Cam at 5 months.
• No doctor visit this month so we are estimating his stats with our trusty tape measure and decade old bathroom scale. We think Cam is around 17 pounds and nearing 28 inches long.
• Right now Camden wears 3-6 months clothes in all but pants. Those are 6-9 months due to his length. He wears size 2 diapers during the day and size 3 at night.
• The eating department has undergone some big changes this month. We are down to only four feedings a day (spaced four hours apart). He is still eating around 8-9 ounces when we bottle feed. The big change is that we introduced solids. We tried rice cereal first and then oatmeal. He was ok with those, but did not seem to really want them much. However, he has LOVED his veggies so far. He has tried carrots, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash. We try green beans tomorrow! Right now he has oatmeal for breakfast, whichever new veggie we’re introducing for lunch and then rice cereal and a veggie for dinner. Mama is making his baby food which she is enjoying! What she is not enjoying are the extremely gross diaper changes that solids bring!
• Camden is still sleeping like a champ, especially at night! He goes down about 8:00 or 8:15 and sleeps until 7:30-7:45 in the morning. This is our goal for his nighttime sleep for a long time, so it feels good to have reached a stopping point there! Some mornings he wakes earlier, but plays quietly until we go in to get him. He is such a happy boy in the mornings! During the day he takes three naps: about 1 ½ hours in the morning, 2-2 ½ in the afternoon, and around 1 hour in the early evening.
• Camden is a strong, active boy! This month he has learned to sit up (when we place him in that position) and can stay for a long time! Sitting is starting to rival standing as his favorite position. Cam likes to kick a lot when being held, lying down, and really in any position. People always say it looks like he is ready to start running around! This makes him mama tired just thinking about chasing after him
• It has been fun to introduce Camden to some “older” kid toys this month. He still enjoys rattles and blocks, but also likes several of the light up/noisy toys. Daddy says we may not replace batteries in several of them once they run out. He also still really likes his Exersaucer and has re-discovered a love for the swing this month.
• Giggles and full out laughs have become very common this month and we love them! It cracks us up what makes him laugh…the most random things for sure! His precious smile brightens our days and his giggle can’t help but put you in a better mood.
• Our areas of growth are still the car seat (although it is much better), the jogging stroller, and the nursery while Mama is at MOPS. MOPS is almost 3 hours long and Cam decided he should go on a nap strike during that time. Poor nursery workers had to try to keep him happy the whole time! We are really hoping we can improve there.

We love our precious son so much and are so proud that he is ours!

P.S. I had to include these other pictures of Camden with his dog. This was the first month he really noticed him sitting there with him. He really wanted to play with (and eat) him instead of posing with him. It was too cute!

  1. I loved reading this. Glad he's loving his veggies and it sounds like he is sleeping great. It's great that he naps so much. Alli has always been a good napper and that time is so great during the day when you get mommy time :) Glad to see things are going well. Miss you!
